Compost Facility to Close for Renovations

February 7, 2012

The free Community Compost program will be soon close so the facility can undergo renovations.

The Las Virgenes-Triunfo Joint Powers Authority produces the compost and offers it free of charge to those living between between Calabasas and Camarillo.

The compost is EPA certified as “Class A Exceptional Quality,” which means it’s the really good stuff.

After twenty continuous years of operations, the facility will undergo months of repair, maintenance, and renovations.

“The Las Virgenes – Triunfo JPA welcomes this opportunity for the public to stock up on compost as we approach the spring planting and growing season,” said John R. Mundy, LVMWD‟s general manager. “They‟ll also be helping us by emptying the facility to get the maintenance process underway quickly.”

Residents can continue to college compost on Saturdays from 8:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. at the composting facility next to the Las Virgenes Municipal Water District headquarters, 4232 Las Virgenes Road until existing inventories are exhausted.

Bring bags, containers, a truck bed, or whatever else you want to cart the stuff away. Shovels are provided but you must do the lifting.
